This transaction cements Montreal's position as a leader in film production services

Montreal, Dec. 13, 2012 - Vision Globale (www.visionglobale.com), the largest Canadian-owned company providing services for film and television production, distribution and broadcasting, has acquired Studio Mel's, Locations Michel Trudel and Génératrices Star (1997).

Having consolidated its visual effects and post-production operations and now offering 3D animation and 3D stereoscopic conversion, Vision Globale is again expanding its list of film production services to include studio, camera and equipment rental.

“Vision Globale's acquisition of Cité du cinéma will maintain Quebecois ownership of Studio Mel's while offering producers a fully integrated film service experience unique in North America,” says Mel Hoppenheim, founder of Studio Mel's. “I'm passing the torch to the next generation while ensuring that my long-time associate, Michel Trudel, will remain fully involved with the company in his same position, invigorated by a project of this scope and magnitude. Vision Globale's management can count on my complete support to ensure the success of this exciting venture.”

“This newly created film hub will bring greater visibility to Montreal and provide Quebec producers with advantages found nowhere else in the world”, adds Trudel, winner of the 2012 Prix hommage from the Association des propriétaires de cinémas du Québec. Trudel will remain in his same position at Vision Globale.

“The quality of our infrastructure and technology, combined with the talents of more than 500 employees all working together, will provide significant economic spinoffs for Montreal. And this is just the beginning. Our services will grow quickly and will include motion capture, as we are expanding from 18 studios with 225,000 square feet to 22 studios over more than 306,000 square feet,” says Daniel Byette, Chief Operating Officer of Vision Globale.
